Orthodontics

Procedures that target misalignment of the teeth.

Braces

Aim to straighten teeth and correct orthodontic issues, which include:

Crooked teeth

Crowded teeth (Sungki)

Gapped teeth

Malocclusions (Overbite, underbite)

Patients can choose between having metal or ceramic braces installed.

Metal Braces

Metal braces use metal brackets to correct the teeth’s positioning. They are generally more cost effective compared to ceramic braces and better at correcting tooth structure in severe cases of overcrowding and malocclusions.

Ceramic Braces

Unlike metal braces, ceramic braces utilize ceramic brackets that are clear and less noticeable. These cost more than traditional metal braces and are advisable for cases where the tooth structure doesn’t need to be dramatically changed.

Invisalign

A type of clear aligner that uses durable and transparent thermoplastic polyurethane resin instead of metal wires, making them less visible to the eye. They address the same issues that braces do, but are less advisable for severe orthodontic cases.

Retainers

After finishing braces, patients will need to wear retainers, custom-made devices worn over the teeth, to keep the teeth’s position in their proper place and prevent them from reverting back to their position before braces. Patients can choose between having Hawley wire or clear retainers.

Hawley Wire Retainers

Hawley wire retainers are made of an acrylic base that sits under the palate and below the tongue, and wires that loop around the teeth. Because of the material, they are more visible, but they are generally more durable than clear retainers.

Clear Retainers

Clear retainers are made of plastic, making them transparent and less noticeable. However, these are more prone to wear and tear due to the material used.
